The Porches Inn at Mass MoCA North Adams is a 57-room boutique property created from a row of restored 19th-century Victorian houses on River Street. The buildings once belonged to the neighborhood surrounding North Adams’ industrial mills and have since been connected into a single hotel campus. Original architectural details remain visible alongside brighter interiors, vintage-inspired furnishings, contemporary artwork, and the porches that give the inn its name. MASS MoCA sits directly across the street, making contemporary art and performance an unusually immediate part of the surroundings.
Rooms range from king and queen accommodations to larger one- and two-bedroom suites. Slate-floored bathrooms appear throughout the principal categories, while selected rooms add claw-foot tubs, separate showers, private porches, Jacuzzi-style tubs, fireplaces, kitchenettes, living rooms, or washer and dryer facilities. The variation fits the building itself; converted Victorian houses were never likely to produce a perfectly repetitive floor plan.
